Peter Genyn pushed the limits and takes gold for Belgium at the paralympic games in Rio!

Our Peter Genyn last night earned a third gold medal for Belgium at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as he won the 100-metre wheelchair sprint (T51). He recorded a time of 21.15, setting a Paralympic record. IKO enerthem is an incredibly proud sponsor! On behalf of the entire team, we extend our warmest congratulations to Peter on a well-deserved win!

“All my efforts during the preparations have not been in vain”, the elated wheelchair athlete said.” This is just great. It went perfect. I did not miss a single stroke. How much stress can a person take? It was terrible. I knew I was in good physical shape. But it did not feel that way, it was a mental thing. We worked hard on my start, and it paid off.”

During the preparations for the Paralympics Genyn trained six days a week. “I gave it everything I had. And it was all worth it.” Genyn rode under sweltering heat wearing long sleeves. “That is necessary, otherwise I sustain burns on my arms”, he said.

Peter is a perfect example of how a top athlete pushes his limits. All links in the chain must be optimal to perform at the highest level. At IKO, we can relate to that 100% as we, too, seek to push the limits of our field.

This Saturday Peter Genyn will also swing into action in the 400-metre race. Join us in cheering him on!

Congratulations, Peter!
